Overview

A technology-driven financial services organization is seeking a transactional attorney to join their Vendor Legal team. This role involves negotiating and managing a high volume of vendor agreements across various categories including technology services, cloud services, SaaS, data platforms, marketing, leasing, and payment processing. The attorney will also focus on improving legal processes and playbooks to increase efficiency and support company growth.

Responsibilities

  • Lead negotiation, drafting, and execution of diverse vendor contracts with speed and sound judgment.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve contract templates, playbooks, negotiation guides, and workflows to enhance team efficiency and reduce cycle times.
  • Collaborate closely with procurement, financial partnerships, engineering, product, finance, information security, privacy, and other teams to provide clear and practical legal guidance.
  • Act as a proactive, strategic business partner to stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop and deliver training and resources to empower business partners to handle routine commercial legal matters independently, increasing team capacity.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree and active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 5 years of relevant transactional experience, either in-house at a technology company or within a technology practice group at a top law firm.
  • Exceptional contract drafting skills.
  • Experience in fintech, payments, or financial services sectors.
  • Experience supporting global or multi-jurisdictional transactions (e.g., Canada, US, UK/EU, Australia).
  • Strong working knowledge of data protection and privacy laws such as CCPA, GDPR, APPs, PIPEDA, and GLBA.
  • Proven ability to manage a high volume of deals while maintaining quality, consistency, and attention to detail.
  • Demonstrated experience building or improving legal processes, playbooks, templates, or operational tools in a high-growth environment.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, capable of simplifying complex legal and commercial issues.
  • Collaborative working style with experience guiding cross-functional teams toward practical, mutually beneficial outcomes.
  • Intellectual curiosity and creative problem-solving skills.
  • Proactive, self-starter mentality with a bias for action.
  • Excellent judgment and ability to make timely, pragmatic, business-focused decisions in ambiguous situations.
  • Professional humility, integrity, and a sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in a remote-first environment.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Base pay grade: M
  • Equity grade: 6
  • Base salary range for U.S. employees:
    • California, Washington, New York, New Jersey, Connecticut: $185,000 - $245,000 per year
    • All other U.S. states: $164,000 - $224,000 per year
  • Total compensation package may include equity rewards, monthly stipends for health, wellness, and technology spending.

  • This is a remote-first position within the United States.
  • Employees can work from almost anywhere within their country of employment.
