Overview

This role involves providing legal expertise and support for commercial real estate leasing, facilities, and operational professional services transactions that support a global business footprint. The legal team focuses on structuring and negotiating engagements with professional services providers, technology partners, and operational vendors. The position requires advising senior business leaders and collaborating cross-functionally to enable strategic objectives while ensuring compliance with applicable laws and company policies.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate commercial real estate leases, subleases, licenses to occupy, lease amendments, and ancillary real property agreements across multiple global jurisdictions.
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of operational professional services agreements, including facilities management, construction contracts, outsourced operations, financial services transactions, consulting, corporate security, and other vendor contracts.
  • Serve as a trusted advisor to senior business leaders on legal, real estate, and operational vendor matters.
  • Partner closely with client groups such as Workplace, Real Estate, Finance, Corporate Security, and Operations teams.
  • Collaborate with teams including Strategic Sourcing, Supplier Deal Management, Finance & Strategy, Tax, Security, and Third Party Risk Management to build efficiencies.
  • Develop and implement improvements to tools, processes, training, and playbooks to manage high-volume workstreams and educate internal and external stakeholders.
  • Ensure compliance with applicable laws, data privacy and security policies, global privacy regulations, and outsourced services guidelines.
  • Identify and evaluate business and legal risks related to lease obligations, landlord/tenant matters, and operational service arrangements, and develop creative mitigation strategies.
  • Communicate complex legal issues clearly to cross-functional stakeholders.
  • Manage multiple priorities and workloads effectively.
  • Provide counsel on lease obligations, landlord/tenant issues, operational risk management, compliance, and vendor governance.
  • Manage relationships with global outside counsel and serve as a point of escalation.

Requirements

  • 6–8+ years of relevant legal experience in a law firm and/or in-house legal department supporting commercial real estate leasing and/or operational professional services contracting.
  • At least 3 years of experience negotiating complex commercial leases or operational services agreements.
  • Deep knowledge of commercial lease structures, landlord/tenant rights and obligations, and real estate transaction mechanics in one or more jurisdictions.
  • Proven ability to negotiate a broad range of operational professional services agreements with a practical, business-minded approach.
  • Strong business judgment and ability to make decisions amid ambiguity.
  • Ability to prioritize and manage multiple deals simultaneously under tight deadlines.
  • Clear and concise communication skills, both written and verbal, with the ability to explain complex issues simply.
  • Strong project management skills and attention to detail.
  • Proactive ownership mentality with enthusiasm and resourcefulness.
  • Humility, curiosity about the evolving industry, a team-first attitude, and a good sense of humor.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience advising high-growth companies on real estate or operational expansion.
  • Experience managing a global or multi-jurisdiction commercial lease portfolio.
  • Experience working closely with procurement, real estate, or facilities functions.
  • Experience negotiating enterprise-level outsourced or managed services agreements.
  • Familiarity with financial services, fintech, or technology company environments.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual US base salary range: $178,200 - $267,200.
  • Salary range may vary based on experience, qualifications, and location.
  • Additional benefits may include equity, company bonus or sales commissions/bonuses, 401(k) plan, medical, dental, and vision benefits, and wellness stipends.

Location & Work Arrangement

  • This role is available either in an office or remotely if located 35+ miles (56+ km) from an office.
  • Office-based employees are expected to spend at least 50% of their time in the local office or with users each month.
  • Remote employees are expected to work primarily from home but may attend team meetings, on-sites, meet-ups, and events as needed.
  • The employer does not cover relocation costs for remote work.
