Overview
An expanding legal team is seeking an experienced attorney with at least 5 years of litigation experience to handle personal injury cases and provide legal guidance across various departments. This role requires a pragmatic, entrepreneurial mindset and the ability to thrive in a fast-paced, ambiguous, and high-workload environment.
Responsibilities
- Manage legal matters hands-on, focusing primarily on personal injury litigation.
- Collaborate with legal team members to develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with broader business objectives.
- Handle all aspects of litigation including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, trial, and appellate strategies.
- Analyze litigation matters to inform resolution strategies and apply current laws and regulations to products and services.
- Manage outside counsel effectively, including providing tactical guidance, overseeing staffing, case management, budgeting, and ensuring alignment with overall legal strategy.
- Advise management on litigation matters.
- Provide cross-functional legal advice to various teams.
- Maintain communication with insurance carriers and other third parties.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-tier law school.
- Active membership in a state bar in good standing.
- Minimum of 5 years practicing law at a leading law firm or in-house.
- Preference for candidates with prior in-house experience and experience advising technology clients as outside counsel.
- Strong problem-solving skills, sound judgment, and excellent written and verbal communication.
- Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively with a positive attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Ability to manage complex workloads, multiple client demands, and shifting priorities with composure.
- Resourceful self-starter with a passion for results and high ethical standards.
- Understanding of the transportation, ridesharing industries, and the sharing economy is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $132,480 - $165,600 (Los Angeles area), exclusive of potential equity, bonuses, or additional benefits.
