Overview
An expanding legal team is seeking a bright, energetic, and self-motivated attorney with at least 5 years of litigation experience. The ideal candidate will be pragmatic, entrepreneurial, and comfortable working in an ambiguous, fast-paced, and sometimes chaotic environment with a high workload. This role involves actively overseeing litigation and partnering with departments such as Claims, Risk, Safety, Policy, and Communications to provide legal guidance and craft solutions to novel legal challenges.
Responsibilities
- Take primary, hands-on responsibility for legal matters, with an emphasis on personal injury cases.
- Collaborate closely with legal team members to develop and implement litigation strategies aligned with broader business objectives.
- Proactively manage all aspects of litigation, including discovery, motion practice, witness preparation, and trial and appellate strategies.
- Analyze litigation matters to participate effectively in resolution strategy decisions and apply current law and regulations to products and services.
- Manage outside counsel efficiently, providing tactical guidance, staffing oversight, case management, budgeting, and alignment with overall legal strategy.
- Provide guidance to management on litigation matters.
- Offer sound legal advice cross-functionally to other teams.
- Maintain effective communication with insurance carriers and other third parties.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years practicing law at a leading law firm or in-house.
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from a top-tier law school.
- Active membership in a state bar in good standing.
- Preference for candidates with prior in-house experience and experience advising technology clients as outside counsel.
- Excellent problem-solving, judgment, written and verbal communication, and interpersonal skills.
- Ability to operate autonomously while being a collaborative team player with a positive attitude.
- Comfortable working in a fast-paced, rapidly evolving environment.
- Ability to think quickly, maintain composure under pressure, and manage complex workloads with shifting priorities.
- Resourceful self-starter with a passion for results and high ethical standards.
- Understanding of the transportation, ridesharing industries, and the sharing economy is preferred.
Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary range: $132,480 - $165,600 (Los Angeles area), exclusive of potential equity, bonuses, or benefits.

Location
