Overview
An established wine and spirits company headquartered in Stamford, Connecticut, is seeking an experienced alcoholic beverage regulatory attorney to join their legal team as Counsel, Regulatory & Compliance. This role offers hybrid and remote work options.
Responsibilities
- Conduct in-depth regulatory research related to the marketing, promotion, and sale of alcoholic beverages.
- Provide legal review of marketing initiatives, advertising materials, promotions, and trade practices, including coupons, sponsorships, sweepstakes, and charitable partnerships.
- Deliver clear, timely legal guidance to Marketing and Sales teams.
- Support negotiation and review of marketing, advertising, and sponsorship agreements.
- Develop and lead training programs to reinforce compliant practices across Marketing and Sales teams.
- Advise on regulatory pathways for launching products in new international markets.
- Collaborate with cross-functional teams to enable compliant and fast-paced growth.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree and Juris Doctorate required.
- Active license to practice law and ability to qualify as in-house counsel in Connecticut.
- Minimum of 5 years of experience in a regulatory legal role within the alcoholic beverage industry.
- Strong analytical and critical thinking skills.
- Excellent organizational skills with high attention to detail and accuracy.
- High level of professionalism, integrity, and commitment.
- Excellent legal and commercial judgment and acumen.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced environment and manage multiple deadlines and priorities.
