A law firm specialising in social welfare law is seeking an experienced Court of Protection Solicitor to join their growing Human Rights and Court of Protection department. The team primarily represents clients deprived of their liberty in care homes or hospitals, focusing on health and welfare matters. The role involves managing complex and sensitive cases to ensure clients receive care in the least restrictive conditions.

Responsibilities

  • Manage Court of Protection (welfare) cases from instruction to conclusion
  • Advise clients, litigation friends, and family members
  • Prepare applications, statements, and court documentation
  • Represent clients at hearings and liaise with counsel as appropriate
  • Collaborate with local authorities, medical professionals, and other agencies
  • Ensure compliance with Legal Aid requirements and funding processes

Requirements

  • Qualified solicitor in England & Wales
  • Experience in Court of Protection welfare work
  • Strong knowledge of legal aid processes and compliance
  • Ability to confidently manage own caseload
  • Commitment to access to justice and client care

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience in public law or community care law
  • Advocacy experience
  • Experience working with vulnerable clients
