Overview

This role involves supporting a rapidly growing technology company specializing in connected operations and Internet of Things (IoT) solutions. The organization serves industries such as agriculture, construction, field services, transportation, and manufacturing, helping improve safety, efficiency, and sustainability through digital transformation.

The legal team is expanding and seeks an experienced litigator to handle a broad range of litigation, compliance, and privacy matters. This position requires advising cross-functional teams on litigation strategy, managing outside counsel, and developing scalable legal processes for a global business.

This is a remote position open to candidates residing in the US except Alaska, Austin Metro, Boulder Metro, California, Chicago Metro, Connecticut, Dallas Metro, Denver Metro, Houston Metro, Maryland, Massachusetts, New Jersey, New York, Rhode Island, Seattle Metro, and Washington, D.C.

Responsibilities

  • Manage all aspects of commercial litigation, including discovery responses, drafting legal briefs, witness interviews and preparation, and settlement negotiations.
  • Provide counsel on customer data privacy and protection, responding to subpoenas and legal requests, and managing related litigation in civil and criminal courts.
  • Proactively identify and resolve potential disputes, offering risk mitigation advice aligned with business objectives.
  • Enhance the eDiscovery program by implementing automation and AI, establishing defensible discovery guidelines, and managing data risk and external legal spend.
  • Innovate legal processes by identifying risks and procedural gaps, designing scalable strategies, and leveraging technology to improve workflows.
  • Monitor commercial litigation trends and provide actionable legal insights to internal stakeholders.
  • Promote and embody the organization's cultural principles as the company scales globally.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree from an accredited law school with strong academic credentials.
  • Active membership in at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum of 4 years of litigation experience in a law firm, government agency, or corporate legal department; prior in-house experience at a technology company is strongly preferred.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple high-priority projects and complex litigation portfolios in a fast-paced environment.
  • Broad experience handling legal risk, conducting in-depth legal research, and navigating regulatory compliance and data privacy frameworks relevant to commercial disputes.
  • Direct experience managing commercial disputes, regulatory inquiries, or adversarial legal matters from inception through resolution or trial.
  • Excellent analytical, interpersonal, and communication skills, with the ability to advocate effectively while maintaining an open-minded approach.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: $119,297.50 to $160,400 USD. Actual base pay may vary based on location, knowledge, skills, and experience.
  • Total compensation includes base salary, performance-based bonus/variable pay, and equity for eligible roles.
