Overview

A technology company specializing in AI infrastructure and video platforms is seeking a Deputy General Counsel to provide comprehensive legal leadership. This senior role involves managing litigation, regulatory compliance, employment matters, policy development, and day-to-day legal counseling. The Deputy General Counsel will work closely with the General Counsel and executive leadership, serving as a trusted advisor and stepping in as needed to oversee the legal function across cloud and data center infrastructure operations as well as a large-scale video platform.

Responsibilities

  • Advise General Counsel, executive leadership, and business teams on legal, regulatory, litigation, employment, compliance, and commercial issues.
  • Lead and manage litigation, claims, disputes, and pre-litigation matters, including strategy, outside counsel oversight, discovery coordination, motion practice support, and settlement recommendations.
  • Conduct and oversee internal investigations and responses to subpoenas, audits, regulatory inquiries, and government requests.
  • Design, implement, and monitor legal and compliance policies, controls, and training programs.
  • Provide practical legal advice to teams across Finance, Human Resources, Sales, Procurement, Product, IT, Operations, and other business functions.
  • Monitor legal and regulatory developments and recommend policy, process, and operational changes to mitigate risk and support compliant growth.
  • Assist in managing legal department operations, including outside counsel management, budgeting, prioritization, and process improvements to support scalable legal functions.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor degree from an accredited law school.
  • Active membership in good standing with at least one U.S. state bar.
  • Minimum 15 years of legal experience, including significant experience in law firms, in-house legal departments, or both.
  • Strong background in litigation, compliance, and strategic legal counseling.
  • Proven experience managing complex commercial disputes, claims, investigations, and litigation strategy.
  • Knowledge of corporate governance, legal compliance frameworks, internal controls, and enterprise risk management.
  • Excellent business judgment with the ability to provide clear, practical legal advice in a fast-paced environment.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills, capable of influencing stakeholders across various levels.
  • Experience overseeing internal investigations, regulatory responses, or government inquiries.
  • Strong organizational and project management skills, with the ability to prioritize competing demands and handle sensitive matters discreetly.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience managing legal staff, paralegals, contract professionals, or outside counsel relationships.
  • Experience leading or scaling legal department operations, including budgeting and workflow improvements.
  • Employment law experience or familiarity with workplace-related legal matters.
  • Experience advising executive leadership on high-risk, high-visibility, or enterprise-wide legal issues.
  • Background advising businesses in cloud computing, data center infrastructure, AI/HPC, video platforms, advertising, or similarly regulated and fast-evolving industries.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Annual base salary range: $270,000 - $330,000 USD

Physical Demands
