Overview

A legal services organization is seeking a Derivatives Lawyer to join their expanding team supporting top-tier clients in the financial services sector. This role is suited for a motivated lawyer with experience advising on derivatives, trading, and capital markets transactions, and a strong understanding of Canadian securities and derivatives regulation.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, negotiate, and advise on a variety of derivatives and trading agreements.
  • Provide legal advice on regulatory, compliance, and transactional issues affecting derivatives and financial markets activities.
  • Support clients in understanding and managing legal and regulatory risks across trading and investment operations.
  • Monitor regulatory developments and assess their impact on business practices and documentation.

Qualifications

  • Minimum 8 years of experience in derivatives, trading, or capital markets law, ideally gained at a major law firm, financial institution, or in-house legal team.
  • Deep familiarity with Canadian derivatives regulation and related securities law frameworks.
  • Actively licensed and in good standing as a lawyer in a Canadian province.
