Overview

A legal role is available for a Digital Technology Regulatory Lawyer based in the UK. This position involves supporting global clients with legal and regulatory matters related to the digital landscape, including cyber security, online safety, artificial intelligence (AI), data privacy, and other emerging technologies.

Responsibilities

  • Provide strategic legal advice on a wide range of compliance issues by reviewing and interpreting regulatory developments and advising on their impact on business operations, policies, products, reporting requirements, and risk exposure.
  • Design, implement, and continuously improve compliance frameworks that promote ethical conduct, regulatory compliance, and operational resilience across global functions.
  • Draft regulatory policy language and regulatory clauses for contracts and templates.
  • Monitor external legal, regulatory, and procedural changes, and develop updates and training materials for internal stakeholders as needed.
  • Support cross-functional compliance initiatives within the digital and technology regulatory environment, ensuring alignment with evolving standards and promoting accountability, transparency, and sustainability.

Minimum Qualifications

  • At least 5 years of post-qualification experience, either in-house or at a top-tier law firm, advising clients on compliance initiatives within complex regulatory environments.
  • Significant expertise advising on digital regulatory frameworks in the technology sector, particularly relating to cyber security, AI governance, and online trust and safety.
  • Strong knowledge of relevant legislation, including the UK Digital Operations Resilience Act, UK Critical Third Party regime, GDPR, ePrivacy Directive, EU Digital Services Act, EU AI Act, EU Digital Markets Act, UK Online Safety Act, and NIS2.
  • Excellent legal and business judgment, attention to detail, strong analytical skills, and effective interpersonal and communication abilities.
  • Proactive and able to work independently as well as collaboratively across cross-functional teams in a fast-paced environment.
  • Must be UK based and authorized to work and practise law in the UK.
