Overview
This contract engagement is for an experienced Employee Benefits Attorney to support a law firm client’s established Labor & Employment practice with a flexible, fully remote schedule.
The attorney will advise on employee benefits matters, including:
- Health and welfare plans
- Retirement and pension plans
- Executive and deferred compensation arrangements
- Other ERISA and employee benefits issues
Responsibilities
- Provide client-focused counsel on ERISA and employee benefits matters
- Advise clients on retirement and pension plans
- Advise clients on group health and welfare benefit plans
- Advise on executive and deferred compensation arrangements
- Support work involving employment and severance agreements
- Handle sophisticated employee benefits assignments while assisting a busy practice with a range of client needs
Requirements
- 5+ years of substantive ERISA and employee benefits experience, including experience in a law firm setting
- Experience advising clients on retirement and pension plans, group health and welfare benefit plans, executive and deferred compensation arrangements, and employment and severance agreements
- Experience with stock option, stock grant, and other equity compensation plans preferred
- Excellent academic credentials
- Licensed and in good standing in state of residence
- Outstanding references

Compensation & Benefits
- Pay: Annualized pay for this position ranges from $180,000 to $225,000 when calculated on a full-time basis.
- Pay for contract engagements is based on multiple factors, including work experience, qualifications, credentials, location, market supply/demand, and the candidate’s preference.
- Professional liability insurance: Complimentary professional liability insurance coverage for work or acts or omissions provided within the scope of the authorized engagement.
- Benefits for 20+ hours/week: Full benefits when working 20+ hours per week, including:
