Overview
The organization is seeking an Employment and Compliance Counsel to join the Corporate Legal function and support the People team and other key stakeholders. This role advises on global labor, employment, compliance, and related legal matters in a constantly evolving environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide advice on a broad range of global employment law issues, including:
- Employee relations
- Performance management
- Disciplinary matters and grievances
- Equity, compensation, and benefits
- Contingent workers and employee classification
- Global mobility
- Prepare and negotiate employment-related agreements, including employment agreements and severance agreements
- Support and manage internal investigations into employee misconduct, violations of laws or policies, and employee disputes and litigation
- Contribute to the development, implementation, and review of workplace and compliance policies, processes, and guidance
- Develop company-wide training on employment and compliance matters
- Liaise with external counsel in the U.S. and other jurisdictions as required
- Maintain internal client satisfaction while promoting scalable processes and procedures
- Collaborate with Legal and other teams on overall legal and compliance functions, including ownership over employee compliance policies
- Apply the organization’s risk appetite to provide commercially astute, risk-appropriate decisions
- Develop an understanding of the organization’s products, services, and business model
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate and 4-6 years of experience from a top-tier law firm and company in the SaaS, data services, or technology industries
- Member of a U.S. state bar in good standing
- Expertise in U.S. and global employment law matters, with experience advising companies in a pragmatic and commercial manner
- Excellent attention to detail, organizational skills, critical thinking skills, and judgment
- Ability to anticipate and mitigate risk and to know when and how to escalate issues
- Proven ability to own tasks and work independently, while also collaborating across teams
- Independent, patient, and thoughtful demeanor, with the ability to manage shifting priorities in a fast-paced environment
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising executives at high-growth technology companies
- Familiarity with or interest in the cryptocurrency and blockchain industry
Compensation & Benefits
- Compensation Range: $220K - $270K
