Overview
An expanding health technology organization is seeking an experienced attorney with at least 6 years of employment and corporate governance experience to join their legal team. This role involves providing comprehensive employment law counseling and compliance support, assisting the People team, and maintaining corporate governance as the company scales. The position requires precision, sensitivity, and sound judgment in a fast-paced environment.
Responsibilities
Employment Law
- Provide day-to-day counseling on employment matters including hiring, performance management, compensation, accommodations, investigations, leaves of absence, and policy development.
- Draft, update, and maintain employee handbooks, policies, and procedures across multiple states.
- Manage and support internal workplace investigations in collaboration with People and leadership teams.
- Collaborate with external counsel on employment litigation, claims, or regulatory matters.
- Ensure compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws and monitor upcoming regulatory developments.
Corporate Governance
- Support the General Counsel in managing board and committee materials, consents, governance calendars, and corporate formalities.
- Maintain corporate records, equity documentation, and entity management across jurisdictions.
- Draft and review governance-related policies, charters, and internal governance documents.
- Assist with fundraising, investor relations, and due diligence efforts as needed.
Requirements
- Minimum of 6 years of employment and corporate governance experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house roles.
- Strong knowledge of multi-state employment law and HR compliance frameworks.
- Experience supporting high-growth, dynamic organizations.
- Excellent communication skills with the ability to provide clear, actionable guidance.
- High integrity and discretion handling sensitive and confidential information.
- Strong organizational, drafting, and project management skills.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience in digital health, technology, consumer subscription services, or healthcare sectors.
- Familiarity with corporate governance in venture capital-backed organizations.
- Knowledge of diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI) and people-operations programs.
