Overview
A national law firm is seeking experienced attorneys to join as Partners in its Employment Counseling and Litigation group. This full-time role offers meaningful autonomy, flexibility, and long-term growth potential without the structural constraints of traditional large-firm models. Partners practice at a high level, serve sophisticated clients, and collaborate with peers across the country while maintaining control over how and where they work.
Responsibilities
- Advise employers on compliance with federal, state, and local employment laws, policies, investigations, and risk management strategies
- Represent clients in employment litigation, including discrimination, harassment, wage and hour, noncompete, and wrongful termination matters
- Draft and negotiate employment-related agreements
- Oversee complex case management from pre-litigation through resolution
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree
- Minimum of 7 years of experience, preferably from AmLaw 200, Law360 400, respected regional, or sophisticated boutique firms
- Employment Practices Liability (EPL) and insurance defense experience strongly preferred
- A minimum portable book of $350,000
- Ability to appear in court or before agencies in licensed jurisdictions when required
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising employers on employment law compliance and risk management
- Proven track record in employment litigation and complex case management
Compensation & Benefits
- Performance-based "Eat What You Kill" compensation model tied to fees collected:
- 30% of collected fees on matters originated by the Partner
- 50% of collected fees attributable to the Partner’s personal time worked
- No cap on earning potential
- Estimated annual compensation range: $150,000 to $2,500,000+, depending on individual performance and practice economics
- Tiered benefit options including group insurance programs, retirement savings options, professional liability coverage, and operational and administrative support
- Benefit eligibility and contributions governed by the partnership agreement
Location
- Remote-first infrastructure allowing work from anywhere in the U.S.
- Must be licensed and able to appear in court or before agencies in their jurisdiction(s) as needed
- Position is based in Michigan but operates on a national platform
