Environmental (Asbestos & Talc) Paralegal

Overview

A national law firm is seeking a full-time ETT Paralegal for its Chicago office. Candidates should have at least 3 years of asbestos and/or toxic tort litigation experience. Flexible work options, including hybrid and remote opportunities, may be available for successful candidates.

The role supports litigation matters involving large caseloads, discovery, trial preparation, and trial assistance. Responsibilities also include client contact, document review and production, drafting and responding to discovery, indexing, exhibit preparation, investigation, and research.

Responsibilities

• Organize and manage large litigation caseloads.
• Support discovery, pleadings, motion preparation, and trial preparation.
• Assist at trial and provide ongoing trial support.
• Review and produce documents.
• Draft and respond to discovery requests.
• Prepare indexes and exhibits.
• Conduct case-related investigation and research.
• Maintain case management records and calendars.
• Prepare and file legal documents in Illinois federal and state courts.
• Communicate with clients and support attorneys and legal teams.
• Work independently on pleadings, discovery, motion preparation, document review, case management research, and trial support.

Requirements

• At least 3 years of asbestos and/or toxic tort litigation experience.
• Significant knowledge of court rules, calendaring, e-filing, and legal procedures.
• Familiarity with the Illinois and Federal Rules of Civil Procedure.
• Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
• Strong analytical and organizational skills, with close attention to detail.
• Proficiency with Microsoft Office 2016, Excel, and iManage.
• Ability to multitask in a fast-paced, team-structured setting.

Preferred Qualifications

• Paralegal certification.
• Bachelor’s degree.

Compensation & Benefits

• Salary range: USD $45,000.00 - USD $100,000.00 per year.
• The position is open to all experience levels.
• Actual compensation may be above or below the identified range and will be based on factors including relevant skills, training, experience, and the location where the position is filled.
