Overview
Remote position based in South Florida with required travel within the tri-county area (Palm Beach, Miami-Dade, Broward counties). Hourly rate ranges from $45 to $150.
An established law group is seeking an experienced Estate Planning Attorney to handle complex estate planning and probate matters. This role requires a Florida-licensed attorney with strong drafting skills, excellent judgment, and the ability to independently manage sophisticated files involving high-net-worth clients and estates.
Responsibilities
- Draft core estate planning documents including wills, revocable and irrevocable trusts, dynasty trusts, special needs trusts, pour-over wills, powers of attorney, health care surrogate designations, living wills, and other advanced directives.
- Design and implement estate planning strategies for high-net-worth clients, focusing on tax-efficient transfers, asset protection, and business succession planning.
- Advise clients on federal estate and gift tax considerations, Florida homestead issues, creditor protection, and asset titling.
- Collaborate with financial advisors, family offices, CPAs, insurance professionals, and internal staff to ensure cohesive and well-executed planning.
- Review and update existing estate plans by identifying gaps or risks and recommending updates aligned with client goals and current law.
- Provide client counseling and education by explaining complex concepts clearly and guiding clients through sensitive planning decisions.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active Florida Bar license in good standing.
- LL.M. in Estate Planning or Taxation.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in estate planning.
- Ability to travel within Broward, Palm Beach, and Miami-Dade counties.
- Demonstrated experience handling high-net-worth clients and complex estates.
- Strong drafting skills and ability to independently handle planning and probate documents.
- Excellent communication, organization, and follow-through skills.
- Ability to work remotely with consistent responsiveness and professionalism.
- Sound judgment and discretion when managing sensitive or high-value matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with complex estate plans and tax-driven strategies.
- Proficiency with legal software such as Clio, LexisNexis, or similar platforms.
- Probate experience is a plus.
