Overview
Remote, part-time independent contractor role for family lawyers.
This position involves applying your case judgment to real-world family law matters—supporting model training focused on how AI systems reason about divorce, custody, and marital agreements. No AI experience is required.
Responsibilities
- Review real-world matters, statutes, and precedent in family law, and convert them into accurate, structured insights for model training
- Research assigned questions and write concise summaries and notes on cases reviewed
- Mark up and annotate legal documents related to family law practice, including custody arrangements, dissolution orders, prenups, and similar materials
- Identify central issues, arguments on each side, and the reasoning that resolved the matters
- Meet deadlines as part of a distributed team using standard online project tools
- Adapt work as project needs change
Requirements
- Family-law expertise developed at a leading large firm
- Current AAML membership
- Strong research and writing ability in this specific practice area
- Ability to explain subtle legal points clearly, both in writing and verbally
- Careful, critical reading of long and complex documents
- Organized, proactive working style with comfort managing multiple deliverables
- Sound legal judgment; prior work on unconventional projects is welcome
Compensation & Benefits
- Independent contractor, remote
- 20 or more hours a week
- Published hourly range: $140 to $400
