Overview

A healthcare startup focused on delivering comprehensive, value-based care to high-risk families is seeking a strategic and business-minded General Counsel & Compliance Officer. This role involves guiding the organization's growth, innovation, and mission by overseeing legal and compliance matters in a fast-paced, evolving environment.

Responsibilities

  • Serve as a trusted advisor to executive leadership on healthcare, regulatory, compliance, employment, and operational issues
  • Lead and develop the legal and compliance strategy across multiple markets
  • Collaborate closely with operations, growth, product, and clinical teams to support compliant innovation
  • Manage payer contracting, vendor agreements, strategic partnerships, and commercial negotiations
  • Oversee HIPAA/privacy, Medicare & Medicaid, value-based care, telehealth, and risk management initiatives
  • Build scalable legal processes, policies, and compliance programs to support rapid organizational growth
  • Handle litigation, audits, investigations, and manage relationships with outside counsel

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) degree from an accredited law school
  • Active membership in a State Bar
  • Minimum of 10 years of healthcare legal experience, preferably within high-growth or startup environments
  • Deep expertise in healthcare regulations, payer contracting, compliance, and operational strategy
  • Strong executive presence with the ability to translate complex legal issues into practical business solutions
  • Experience supporting scaling organizations, market expansion, and innovative care models

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $250,000 to $300,000 annually
