This role requires a US bar holder General Counsel to lead the in-house legal function across three key areas: a top direct-to-consumer e-commerce brand, a family office investing in hedge funds, and cross-border legal structuring involving multiple international jurisdictions. Reporting directly to the CEO, the successful candidate will manage outside counsel relationships and oversee critical legal matters including FTC compliance, consumer protection, fund subscriptions, custody protocols, and international asset structuring.

Responsibilities

  • Own and manage legal domains across DTC e-commerce regulatory compliance, hedge fund subscription and custody documentation, and multi-jurisdictional legal structuring.
  • Identify and proactively address material legal risks within designated workstreams.
  • Deliver monthly legal exposure audits directly to the CEO.
  • Conduct quarterly compliance reviews of all consumer-facing operations.
  • Negotiate limited partner (LP) terms and review fund documentation.
  • Manage relationships with multiple outside counsel firms.
  • Operate with high autonomy and independent judgment.

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
  • Admission to the bar in at least one U.S. jurisdiction.
  • 5 to 10 years of legal experience, ideally combining law firm and in-house roles.
  • Proven ability to manage multiple outside counsel relationships simultaneously.
  • Experience working across multiple international jurisdictions and coordinating cross-border legal matters.
  • Demonstrated proactive identification of legal risks beyond assigned tasks.
  • Fluency in AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) for legal research, drafting, and risk identification; proficiency will be assessed during the interview.
  • Ability to work with minimal oversight and exercise independent judgment.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Background in corporate or commercial law at a mid-market or large law firm prior to in-house transition.
  • Experience with fund finance, limited partner agreements, or NAV-based lending.
  • Familiarity with consumer protection laws (FTC and state-level statutes) and DTC e-commerce regulatory environment.
  • Experience supporting corporate transactions or due diligence processes.
  • Exposure to high-net-worth or family office client matters.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Competitive base salary up to USD $220,000 per annum.
  • Monthly performance bonus up to 10%.
  • Comprehensive medical, dental, and vision insurance (based on country of hire).
  • Generous paid time off and public holidays (based on country of hire).

Work Environment

  • Fully remote position with flexible work location.
  • Required meaningful time zone overlap with Middle East and Europe.
  • Access to AI-native tool stack supporting legal work.
  • Opportunities for learning and development.
  • Collaboration with an international team representing 14+ nationalities.
