Overview
This role supports General Liability litigation as a Trial Attorney in a remote capacity working anywhere in the Northern California area (California Virtual Office: Sacramento).
Responsibilities
- Handle all phases of litigation, from initial evaluation through resolution
- Partner with claims professionals to develop case strategy
- Conduct discovery
- Negotiate settlements
- Appear at hearings
- Advocate for clients throughout the litigation process
- For senior-level attorneys: opportunities to mentor colleagues and serve as technical resources on complex matters
Requirements
Trial Attorney
- Juris Doctor
- 5 or more years of litigation experience
- Member in good standing of the California State Bar
- Experience with Microsoft Office and Adobe
- Experience using Lexis, Westlaw, or similar legal research platforms
- Knowledge of the insurance industry, claims environment, insurance defense litigation, and legal procedure
Preferred Qualifications
- GL trial experience
- Strong communication and negotiation skills
- Excellent analytical and problem-solving abilities
- Ability to manage a caseload independently
- Experience working in a collaborative team environment
- Trial, hearing, mediation, and settlement experience
- For Senior Trial Attorney candidates: experience handling moderate to high-complexity matters, mentoring attorneys, and serving as a subject matter resource
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range for the Trial Attorney: $155,000.00 - $180,000.00
- Short-term incentive bonus eligibility: 10%
- Pay is based on role, location, skills, and experience, and follows local laws to ensure fair compensation
