Overview
A leading mental health technology organization is seeking a Global Regulatory Counsel to navigate complex and evolving regulatory environments across multiple jurisdictions. This full-time, remote role reports to the Deputy General Counsel, Regulatory and Risk, and may require occasional travel for team or company events.
Responsibilities
- Serve as a primary legal advisor on global regulatory issues related to healthcare, digital health, telehealth, professional practice, and emerging AI regulations.
- Assess regulatory risks in new and existing markets to prioritize focus and investment.
- Advise product and engineering teams on regulatory implications of new features and workflows.
- Partner with clinical teams on professional practice standards, licensure, scope of care, and delivery models across jurisdictions.
- Translate regulatory requirements from global jurisdictions into clear, actionable guidance for non-legal teams.
- Support regulatory diligence for customer inquiries, RFPs, and enterprise partnerships.
- Develop and refine global regulatory playbooks, processes, and documentation.
- Collaborate with business stakeholders, including operations and sales teams, to embed regulatory compliance throughout company operations.
- Work closely with legal team members on various projects, contributing expertise to enhance overall effectiveness.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) from an accredited law school.
- Active bar membership in good standing in any U.S. state.
- Minimum of 5 years legal experience, including significant work in regulated industries such as healthcare, health tech, digital health, or related fields.
- Strong understanding of international or cross-border regulatory issues, including familiarity with EU regulatory frameworks and global digital health standards.
- Ability to quickly identify and assess issues, evaluate risk, and provide legally sound recommendations aligned with business objectives.
- Innovative problem-solving skills to manage complex regulatory challenges.
- Collaborative, team-oriented approach with self-motivation and ability to work independently.
- Exceptional written and oral communication skills, capable of explaining complex legal concepts clearly.
- Excellent organizational and project management skills to handle multiple priorities effectively.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience advising on emerging AI regulations.
- Prior involvement in building regulatory playbooks and compliance frameworks.
Compensation & Benefits
- Target base salary range: $184,000 - $211,500, with individual pay determined by experience, location, internal equity, and other factors.
