Overview
A Colorado-based nonprofit organization is seeking up to two Homeowner Justice Attorneys to join their affirmative litigation team. The organization focuses on economic and racial equity by addressing economic abuse and investing in community wealth, particularly through legal and advocacy efforts to prevent eviction, foreclosure, and homelessness.
Responsibilities
- Lead or collaborate on affirmative litigation on behalf of low- and moderate-income homeowners and mobile homeowners.
- Handle cases involving abusive lending practices, mortgage servicing errors, defective mobile home sales, exploitative mobile home park owner practices, fair housing issues, title disputes, homeowners associations, and related matters.
- Litigate cases in state and/or federal court using consumer protection law, real property law, fair housing law, Colorado’s Mobile Home Park Act, and other relevant statutes.
- Manage all stages of litigation including complaint filing, motion practice, discovery, depositions, trial, mediation, and settlement negotiations.
- Set and achieve case goals in coordination with supervisors.
- Participate in weekly check-ins, firm-wide meetings, and team meetings.
- Coordinate with other teams to ensure timely case tracking and reporting.
- Attend hearings, court appearances, and conferences as required.
- Present on homeowner and mobile homeowner rights to clients, internal teams, and partner organizations.
- Complete required documentation for case management and personal tracking.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Admission or eligibility for admission to the U.S. District Court for the District of Colorado.
- Admission or eligibility for admission to the Colorado State Bar (current admission preferred).
- Minimum of 2 years litigation experience in a nonprofit, government enforcement agency, legal services provider, or private law firm.
- Experience preferred in mortgage servicing, predatory lending, consumer protection, fair lending, bankruptcy, civil rights, housing justice, or related litigation.
- Strong research, drafting, and legal writing skills.
- Excellent organizational, time management, and interpersonal communication skills.
- Commitment to social and racial justice and working with vulnerable communities.
- Ability to work collaboratively in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
- Willingness and ability to travel within Colorado.
- Proficiency with MS Office, CLIO, and Google Suite is desired.
- Additional language skills are a plus and eligible for a salary stipend.
- Interest or experience in class actions or multi-plaintiff litigation is advantageous.

Compensation & Benefits
- Competitive base salary of $90,000 per year.
- 15% sign-on bonus.
- $1,000 annual salary adjustment for hybrid or in-person work.
- $2,000 annual salary differential for employees using two or more languages at work (subject to language assessment).

Location
- This is a remote position with occasional in-person requirements for meetings, case development, and court appearances within Colorado.
