Overview
An organization is seeking an Import Counsel to join their International Trade and Regulatory team. This role involves providing legal guidance and support on U.S. import laws, customs compliance, and tariff matters. Responsibilities
- Draft, review, and negotiate import-related contracts, agreements, and customs documentation.
- Provide legal guidance on import compliance, tariff mitigation, HTS classification, and country of origin determinations.
- Collaborate with internal teams and clients on cross-border transactions and trade compliance initiatives.
- Manage legal and regulatory issues related to U.S. import and customs compliance.
- Monitor global trade regulations to provide proactive counsel.
Requirements
- Proven experience advising on U.S. import regulations, HTS classification, and customs compliance.
- Strong knowledge of country-of-origin rules, tariffs, and trade regulations.
- Excellent communication, negotiation, and problem-solving skills.
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree or equivalent and licensed to practice law in an applicable jurisdiction.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with technology, healthcare/pharma, or manufacturing industries.
- Familiarity with Section 232 and Section 301 trade measures.
- Experience working with large multinational clients.
Compensation & Benefits
- Estimated total compensation for full-time attorney roles ranges from $104,500 to $325,000 per year.
- Compensation decisions are based on factors including experience, skills, certifications, location, and business needs.
