Overview
This In-House Counsel role is remote and supports the Business & Legal Affairs division. The position reports to the Head of Business & Legal Affairs.
Compensation is $135,000 – $150,000 annually, commensurate with experience and qualifications. Benefits include health insurance, 401(k) retirement plan participation, and paid time off.
Responsibilities
- Work with General Counsel and other departments, as needed, to support a wide range of legal and business initiatives
- Interpret laws, rulings, and regulations applicable to the organization’s operations
- Conduct legal research and gather evidence in support of transactional, regulatory, and litigation matters
- Ensure appropriate approvals are in place before documents are executed
- Explain the law and provide legal advice to internal stakeholders
- Draft and review contracts, commercial agreements, and related legal documents
- Manage regulatory and compliance-related matters, including compliance with state and federal alcohol beverage law and general corporate compliance
- Support and coordinate commercial litigation and arbitration matters, including drafting briefs, motions, demand letters, and other litigation documents
- Respond to government inquiries, subpoenas, and enforcement proceedings, and manage outside counsel as needed
- Facilitate creative, practical solutions to complex legal and business problems
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate degree from an accredited law school
- Admitted attorney of at least 3 years standing
- Demonstrated litigation or dispute resolution experience, including drafting briefs, motions, or other advocacy documents (private practice or in-house)
- Exceptional writing and communication skills; ability to write clearly and persuasively for legal and non-legal audiences
- Experience drafting and reviewing legal documents across transactional and contested contexts
- Analytical thinker with strong conceptual and research skills
- Ability to manage competing priorities under pressure and meet deadlines
- Ability to work independently and as part of a team
- Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
- Must be authorized to work in the United States

Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with alcoholic beverage industry regulation, corporate compliance, or another regulated industry
- Experience working across multiple state jurisdictions
Physical Requirements
