Overview
An established California-based healthcare services organization is seeking an experienced In-House Healthcare Transactional Counsel to lead physician practice acquisitions and related healthcare transactions within a rapidly growing provider network platform. This role involves managing a high volume of transactions in a fast-paced environment with minimal oversight.
Responsibilities
- Lead physician practice acquisitions and other healthcare transactions end-to-end
- Draft and negotiate purchase agreements and ancillary documents
- Serve as a key legal partner to internal stakeholders, providing business-oriented legal advice
- Support high-volume, tuck-in acquisitions of physician practices or provider groups
- Help shape and improve legal operations infrastructure, including building scalable workflows and improving access to key information
- Enhance overall efficiency within the legal function
Requirements
- Minimum 5 years of experience in healthcare transactional law, M&A, or physician practice acquisitions
- Significant experience with California healthcare transactions
- Proven ability to manage transactions independently in a deadline-driven environment
- Experience working closely with internal business stakeholders
- Familiarity with healthcare regulatory considerations in transactional settings
- Strong analytical, written, verbal, and interpersonal skills
- Excellent academic credentials from an ABA-accredited law school
- Outstanding professional references
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience building or improving legal infrastructure such as contract management systems, document repositories, and scalable workflows
- Experience reviewing and negotiating payer/provider contracts
- California Bar licensure preferred but not required
Position Details
- Role type: In-House Engagement (Contract Attorney)
- Schedule: Flexible up to full-time
- Location: Fully remote with potential hybrid arrangement for candidates local to Southern California
Compensation & Benefits
- Annualized pay range: $220,000 to $250,000 or more (full-time equivalent), with contract pay rates based on experience, qualifications, location, and market factors
