Overview

This role involves working as an Associate Legal Counsel specializing in insurance defense. The position is based in San Diego, California, and offers a remote work arrangement with occasional office visits required.

Responsibilities

  • Manage legal work on assigned cases.
  • Actively pursue files referred by the Claims Department.
  • Develop and maintain documented case strategies, including analysis of intangible factors such as judges, plaintiff attorneys, and aggravating circumstances.
  • Organize and maintain document files including pleadings, briefs, and memorandums.
  • Provide timely status reports to claims handlers on significant case activities, at least every 60 days.
  • Ensure all case files are properly documented and organized.
  • Respond promptly to telephone calls and correspondence.
  • Utilize case management software for notes, diary, calendar, billing, and other case-related tasks in compliance with company guidelines and legal/ethical requirements.
  • Perform other duties as assigned.

Requirements

  • Minimum of 1 year experience as a trial attorney.
  • Experience handling insurance defense work is preferred.
  • Active membership in the State Bar with all necessary licensing and continuing education requirements maintained.
  • Willingness to travel as needed.

Compensation & Benefits

  • Salary range: $83,500 to $132,900, determined by experience, skills, education, certifications, and geographic location.
