Overview
This role involves providing legal counsel for assigned cases and partnering with Claims and Staff Counsel processes. The position is based in the San Antonio/Austin TX area and includes remote work requirements.

Responsibilities
- Handle legal work on assigned cases.
- Aggressively pursue files referred to Staff Counsel by the Claims Department.
- Create and maintain a documented strategy for case handling in each assigned case, including a synopsis of intangible factors (e.g., judge, plaintiff attorney, aggravating factors).
- Develop, organize, and maintain document files, including pleadings, briefs, and memorandums.
- Prepare and submit timely status reports to claims handlers on all significant activities as they occur, at no greater than 60-day intervals.
- Ensure all files are properly documented and organized.
- Provide prompt and timely responses to telephone calls and correspondence.
- Utilize and/or ensure use of case management software for maintaining notes, diary, calendar, billing, and related case activities, in accordance with established operating guidelines and applicable legal and ethical requirements.
Requirements
- 3+ years of experience as a trial attorney.
- Member of the State Bar, maintaining all necessary licensing and continuing education requirements.
- Required to travel as needed.
- Must work remotely and reside in the San Antonio or Austin, TX area.
Preferred Qualifications
- Handling of insurance defense work.
