Overview
This role supports insurance defense legal matters for the organization’s Dallas–Ft. Worth-area staff counsel team. Attorneys work from home and handle in-person appearances and trials as required, with developmental opportunities available.
The position focuses on cases that are primarily low complexity and exposure, managing matters through intake to resolution.
Responsibilities
- Litigate low complexity and exposure cases; prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs as needed through intake to trial and/or settlement
- Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and/or trials
- Proactively inform leadership of case handling opportunities and challenges
- Consult with the Claims Department regarding the legal aspects of files
- Support efficient case management through other assigned tasks
- May handle second chair trials and handle trials in cases with minimal complexity and/or exposure
- May support senior attorneys on matters with greater complexity and/or exposure
- May receive developmental assignments of matters with moderate complexity and/or exposure
Requirements
- Licensed to practice Law in applicable states required upon hire
- Bachelors degree preferred
- Civil litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred

- Work is primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office environment; may include field work outdoors with exposure to weather elements
- Ability to sit or stand for prolonged periods (up to a full shift)
- Occasionally navigate stairs, ramps, and level or uneven surfaces
- Occasionally move/push/pull/lift/carry/place objects/materials up to 50 pounds without assistance
