Overview

A legal team is seeking attorneys of all levels to join their Northern California staff counsel team. This is a remote position with occasional in-person appearances and trials as required. Responsibilities

  • Represent clients in insurance defense cases primarily of low to moderate complexity and exposure.
  • Manage all phases of cases from intake through resolution.
  • Prepare pleadings, motions, discovery, and briefs.
  • Attend hearings, conferences, interviews, mediations, arbitrations, and trials.
  • Proactively communicate case handling opportunities and challenges to leadership.
  • Consult with the Claims Department on legal and jurisdictional issues.
  • Perform other tasks to ensure efficient case management.
  • Serve as second chair in trials and handle trials involving moderate complexity and exposure.
  • Support senior attorneys on cases of greater complexity and receive developmental assignments involving high complexity and exposure.

Physical Requirements

  • Work performed primarily indoors in a climate-controlled office or virtually from an approved alternative location.
  • May include fieldwork with exposure to weather elements.
  • Frequent sitting or standing for prolonged periods.
  • Occasional movement including navigating stairs, ramps, and uneven surfaces.
  • Occasionally lift, carry, push, or pull objects up to 50 pounds without assistance.
  • Frequent use of hands and fingers for typing, mousing, and writing.
  • Occasional bending, stooping, crouching, kneeling, twisting, and reaching.
  • Adequate vision and hearing, with or without correction, to perform job duties safely and effectively.
  • May require regular travel between offices, alternative work locations, and field sites.

Education and Experience Requirements

  • Bachelor's degree preferred.
  • Licensed to practice law in applicable states upon hire.
  • Three years of insurance defense litigation and/or personal/bodily injury experience preferred.
  • Second chair trial experience strongly preferred.
  • Multistate jurisdictional practice preferred.

Compensation and Benefits

  • California salary range: $115,275 - $196,130.

Location

This position is remote with work locations in Northern California including Fresno, Modesto, Monterey, Oakland, Sacramento, San Francisco, San Jose, San Luis Obispo, and Stockton.
