Overview
A full-service litigation and business law firm with multiple U.S. locations is seeking a Knowledge Management & Innovation (KMI) Attorney to drive business transformation and operational efficiency within its Intellectual Property Practice Service Center (PSC). This role focuses on developing and implementing innovative legal technology solutions, optimizing client service delivery, and streamlining business processes. The position may be filled remotely or at any firm location.
Responsibilities
- Serve as the primary knowledge management and innovation liaison to the Intellectual Property PSC.
- Lead and advise the PSC on technology-driven improvements and process optimization.
- Act as a subject matter expert to foster collaboration between knowledge management, IT, and practice teams, including evaluating and implementing AI tools.
- Identify, assess, and pilot new and existing legal technology tools based on PSC needs.
- Prototype and demonstrate technology solutions such as AI and document automation platforms.
- Collect and relay user feedback to enhance knowledge management solutions and promote continuous improvement.
- Champion technology adoption and organizational change to ensure successful project delivery.
- Support pilots, beta tests, and business development initiatives related to knowledge management and innovation.
- Develop and deliver training, workshops, and support materials to drive user engagement and adoption.
- Plan, execute, and monitor knowledge management and innovation projects aligned with firm goals and return on investment.
- Document, track, and report project progress in collaboration with the knowledge management project management team.
- Monitor legal technology trends and participate in relevant industry events.
- Develop and refine document automation prototypes, ensuring integration with databases and user-friendly interfaces.
- Implement customization features and feedback mechanisms for continuous tool improvement.
- Conduct live demonstrations and pilot programs to illustrate value and drive adoption of knowledge management tools and legal technology.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree and a 4-year degree in a relevant field.
- Minimum of 5 years’ experience as a practicing attorney or in knowledge management/innovation within professional services.
- Proven experience with legal technology, project management, and business planning.
- Demonstrated ability to work on cross-functional teams and lead organizational change.
- Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, capable of collaborating with diverse teams and explaining complex concepts to non-technical stakeholders.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a proactive and innovative mindset.
Compensation and Benefits
Compensation is commensurate with skills, experience, location, and other factors permitted by law. Expected salary ranges by location are:
- California: $151,000 - $308,000
- Colorado: $139,000 - $248,000
- Illinois: $136,000 - $265,000
- Maryland: $146,000 - $222,000
- Massachusetts: $151,000 - $289,000
- Minnesota: $151,000 - $250,000
- Jersey City, NJ: $164,000 - $297,000
- New York: $141,000 - $304,000
- Vermont: $149,000 - $286,000
- Washington: $146,000 - $278,000
- Washington, D.C.: $195,000 - $286,000
Bonus opportunities are discretionary and dependent on individual and firm performance.
