Overview
The organization is expanding its national Innovative Staffing Team (IST), a highly trained Labor and Employment team. This is a fully remote, hourly position for Labor and Employment attorneys seeking flexible work on employment matters without a full-time, partner track role.
IST lawyers are tied to national offices but may be physically located in many states throughout the country. Team members work as part of the Labor & Employment practice group.
Responsibilities
- Handle employment litigation matters, including drafting responsive pleadings.
- Manage all aspects of the discovery process.
- Draft motions, including motions for summary judgment.
- Manage matters involving Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges, including:
- Defending investigations
- Preparing position statements
- Defending clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits
- Representing clients in mediations and conciliations
- Negotiating settlements
- Work collaboratively with experienced lawyers and share ideas, resources, and best practices.
Requirements
- 5+ years of increasingly responsible employment litigation experience, preferably on the management-side.
- Familiarity with and experience in federal and state court practice, as well as with the EEOC, Department of Labor, and other federal, state, and local government administrative agencies.
- Litigation experience including:
- Drafting responsive pleadings
- Managing discovery
- Drafting motions, including motions for summary judgment
- Handling EEOC charge matters as described in the responsibilities section
- Collegiate, cooperative approach and ability to work with experienced lawyers.
- Desire to work on exciting matters without the demands of a full-time, on track position (no obligations for marketing or other contribution hours).
- Strong time management skills and flexibility around workflow.
- There is no billable hours expectation.
- Ideally, availability to work 1000 or more hours per year depending on the specific casework.
- An active bar license in the state where you will reside and a bar license in a state where the organization maintains an office.
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $100 to $130/hour.
- This range reflects the lowest to highest amount the employer believes it would pay for this role at the time of posting.
- Pay within the range will be based on factors including education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographical location, and business or organizational needs.
