Overview
A national legal team is seeking experienced Labor and Employment lawyers for a fully-remote, hourly position. This role offers the opportunity to work with a top-ranked Labor & Employment practice group on a flexible basis without the demands of a full-time, partner-track position. The team includes over 35 lawyers located across various states, each tied to a national office.
Responsibilities
- Handle employment litigation matters primarily on the management side.
- Manage federal and state court cases, including drafting responsive pleadings and motions such as motions for summary judgment.
- Conduct all aspects of the discovery process.
- Manage Equal Employment Opportunity Commission (EEOC) charges, including defending investigations, preparing position statements, representing clients in fact-finding conferences and on-site visits.
- Represent clients in mediations, conciliations, and settlement negotiations.
- Collaborate with other experienced lawyers, sharing ideas, resources, and best practices.
Requirements
- Minimum of 5 years of increasingly responsible employment litigation experience, preferably on the management side.
- Familiarity with federal and state court practice and experience with federal, state, and local administrative agencies such as the EEOC and Department of Labor.
- Active bar license in the state of residence and in a state where the organization maintains an office.
- Strong time management skills and flexibility to manage workflow; no billable hours expectation but availability to work approximately 1,000 or more hours annually depending on casework.
- Collegiate and cooperative approach to teamwork.
- Desire to work on engaging matters without full-time or partner-track obligations; no marketing or contribution hour requirements.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience defending clients in employment-related investigations and litigation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Hourly pay range: $100 to $130 per hour, based on education, qualifications, experience, skills, geographic location, and organizational needs.
