Overview

This role supports litigation and investigations through document review, legal research, and discovery management.

Responsibilities

  • Report to the Project Manager and/or Project Supervisor.
  • Perform document reviews in Relativity in English (fluency required) and Chinese (fluency required).
  • Conduct in-depth second-level review of documents and identify items requiring further review by a federal attorney.
  • Perform detailed indexing of case files and support litigation support assignments, including document acquisition-related tasks.
  • Screen documents for privilege.
  • Proofread and edit written documents.
  • Review and summarize audio/video files as needed.
  • Receive and track discovery items.
  • Use electronic and evidence management and discovery production processes and tools (e.g., Relativity, Casemap, Sanction) to support investigations.
  • Search the Relativity database using criteria developed by case team management.
  • Review search result sets for relevance based on written criteria.
  • Code relevant documents according to existing protocol.
  • Conduct legal research and analysis.
  • Prepare legal documents, reports, correspondence, and assist with technical research documents.
  • Brief attorneys on legal issues and theories and draft statements of facts.
  • Prepare summaries and analyses of information reviewed.
  • Brief attorneys on the substance of documents reviewed.

Required Qualifications

  • Ability to obtain and maintain MRPT (Moderate Risk Public Trust) facility credentials/authorization. US Citizenship is required for MRPT facility credentials/authorization at this work location.
  • Bilingual or multi-lingual ability (fluency required): English and Chinese.
  • Proficiency in Relativity/RelOne, particularly conducting document reviews (tagging, searching, coding, etc.).
  • Law degree, or currently attending an ABA-accredited law school with at least two (2) years of study; or an equivalent level of seven (7) years legal training or experience; or an equivalent level of education may be substituted.
  • At least two (2) years of progressively more responsible experience on litigation support projects or task order-related projects, including proven communication skills and ability to interact with clients and attorneys.
  • Sound working knowledge of federal and state court systems, legal research procedures, and legal research resources.
  • Excellent written and oral communication skills and thorough knowledge of legal research tools such as LEXIS and Westlaw.
  • Significant experience with a variety of computer applications, including word processing, databases (document review and file management systems), spreadsheets, and imaging.
  • Hands-on familiarity with ESI tools and knowledge of eDiscovery procedures and resources.
