Overview
This role involves building and leading a personal injury practice from the ground up. The organization is developing a plaintiff-side practice that pairs legal representation with internal operations and software support.
Responsibilities
- Represent severely injured clients in pre-litigation negotiation, mediation, or trial.
- Own legal operations end to end, including:
- Selecting which cases to take on
- Setting case strategy
- Representing clients from intake through resolution
- Manage a team of attorney and non-attorney professionals across intake and case management.
- Partner with internal teams to improve practice operations and client experience, including:
- Collaborating with marketing on client-facing brand differentiation and messaging
- Working with product on after-hours phone support standards and protocols, including handling high-value cases
Requirements
- Deep personal injury experience at a plaintiff’s firm, ideally across motor vehicle accidents and premises liability.
- Experience representing clients through every stage of a case, including taking matters to trial.
- Strong understanding of the legal operations “nuts and bolts” at a plaintiff’s firm, including where standard playbooks fall short and how you would improve operations starting from a blank page.
- Experience supervising non-attorney professionals across intake, case management, and support.
- Ability to thrive in a scrappy startup environment and learn quickly while taking hands-on ownership.
- Demonstrated commitment to doing good and helping people.
- Based in California and licensed to practice law there.
Preferred Qualifications
- A network of injury attorneys for referrals, co-counsel relationships, and advice.
- Experience closely connected to marketing operations at a plaintiff’s firm, including understanding marketing and intake economics.
- Existing relationships or referral channels that could generate cases.
- Experience starting a legal practice or working in a startup/fast-paced, agile environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated base salary band: $170,000–$230,000, plus equity and benefits.
- The salary offered will be determined based on candidate experience, knowledge, skills, abilities, and internal equity.

Location
- Based in California (license required).
- Day-to-day work is remote with travel to LA to be with colleagues (travel paid by the organization), plus offsites and retreats.
