Overview
This role involves building a new personal injury legal practice from the ground up. The organization is scaling its existing legal operations and is seeking a founding attorney who will own legal operations end to end—selecting cases, setting case strategy, and representing clients from intake through resolution.
Responsibilities
- Directly represent severely injured clients in pre-litigation negotiation, mediation, or trial.
- Manage case strategy and case selection, including determining which matters the practice will take on.
- Represent clients from intake through resolution.
- Oversee legal operations across intake and case management.
- Supervise a team of attorney and non-attorney professionals supporting intake and case management.
- Partner cross-functionally with internal teams (including product and operations) to help set standards for after-hours phone support and case-handling protocols, including for high-value matters.
Requirements
- Deep personal injury experience at a plaintiff's firm, ideally across motor vehicle accidents and premises liability.
- Experience representing clients through every stage of a case, including taking cases to trial.
- Strong knowledge of legal operations at a plaintiff's firm, including where the standard playbook falls short, and the ability to improve processes from a blank page.
- Experience supervising non-attorney professionals across intake, case management, and support.
- Demonstrated ability to thrive in a scrappy, fast-moving startup environment.
- Demonstrated commitment to doing good and helping people.
- Based in California and licensed to practice law here.
Preferred Qualifications
- A network of injury attorneys for referrals, co-counsel relationships, and general advice.
- Experience or familiarity with marketing operations of a plaintiff's firm and an understanding of marketing and intake economics.
- Existing relationships or referral channels that could generate cases.
- Thoughtful experience starting a legal practice, or experience working in a startup or other fast-paced, agile environment.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated base salary band: $170,000 to $230,000, plus equity and benefits.

Location
- Based in California; licensed here and building the first injury practice in this market.
- Day to day is remote, with travel to LA to meet with colleagues, plus offsites and retreats. (Travel is covered.)
