Overview

A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Lead Commercial Counsel for Lending Partnerships. This role involves supporting high-impact initiatives that directly influence business performance and team success. The position requires collaboration across multiple functions to advance priorities, solve complex challenges, and deliver measurable results. It offers the opportunity to shape both strategic direction and daily operations in a dynamic environment.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $208,000 – $287,900 annually

Responsibilities

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Lending Partnerships business and work closely with internal teams
  • Provide legal and strategic guidance to mitigate risks and support business growth
  • Draft and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements, including licensing and service contracts
  • Efficiently resolve negotiation issues in collaboration with internal stakeholders
  • Design and implement processes and templates to improve transaction efficiency

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with strong academic credentials
  • Membership in a state bar (New York or California preferred)
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in transactional legal practice, ideally within a technology or fintech law firm or in-house legal department
  • Demonstrated ability to lead complex negotiations and collaborate effectively with sales teams
  • Expertise in B2B SaaS agreements, particularly within regulated environments
  • Strong problem-solving skills, proactive mindset, and commitment to high-quality work

Preferred Skills and Experience

  • Experience with commercial agreements, software licensing, fintech, financial services, and capital markets
  • Familiarity with contract management software, document automation tools, collaboration platforms, and risk assessment tools
  • Knowledge of data privacy regulations
