Overview
A technology company specializing in intelligent agreement management is seeking a skilled attorney to join their Commercial, Growth, and Trust team with a focus on cybersecurity. This individual contributor role reports to the Vice President and Deputy General Counsel, Commercial, Growth and Trust. The position supports the organization's cybersecurity legal function and addresses data protection and cybersecurity issues.
Responsibilities
- Provide expert legal advice to cross-functional teams on managing cybersecurity risks and compliance with global cybersecurity laws and regulations.
- Offer legal guidance on regulatory, third-party, and internal security audits; participate in workstreams for security hygiene assessments, mitigation, and remediation.
- Enhance data governance posture including operations, documentation, employee training, policy monitoring, audit, enforcement, and third-party risk assessments.
- Collaborate with the global legal team to align security and data practices company-wide.
- Support the development and improvement of incident detection and response processes.
- Provide counsel during cybersecurity investigations and data incident responses, including notification and mitigation strategies.
- Stay current on data security laws, industry standards, technological developments, and threat vectors to address complex issues.
- Assist in preparing board and executive presentations, regulatory filings, and legal disclosures related to cybersecurity.
- Support global AI governance and responsible innovation efforts.
Requirements
- Juris Doctorate Degree or equivalent international degree.
- Active membership in at least one state bar.
- Minimum of 12 years practicing as an attorney in law firms, government agencies, or in-house legal teams, with significant experience in cybersecurity and incident response.
- Experience advising on compliance with global privacy and cybersecurity laws and regulations, including U.S. state laws, country-specific frameworks, sector-specific requirements (e.g., GLBA, SEC, NYDFS), EU laws (e.g., NIS2, DORA), and emerging AI laws.

Compensation & Benefits
- Base salary ranges vary by location:
- California: $186,100 - $300,550
- Illinois, Colorado, Massachusetts, Minnesota: $178,900 - $252,700
- Washington, Maryland, New Jersey, New York (including NYC metro): $178,900 - $262,825
- Washington DC: $186,100 - $262,825
- Ohio: $157,100 - $221,900
- Eligible for company bonus plans based on performance.
- Eligible to receive Restricted Stock Units (RSUs).

Location
- This is a remote position; the employee is not required to be in or near an office frequently and will work from a designated remote location.
