Lead Counsel for Product - REMOTE

Overview

A partner organization is seeking a Senior Product Counsel to support its Lending business in a fully remote capacity. This strategic role involves providing essential legal counsel for various credit partnerships, working closely with cross-functional teams to navigate complex regulatory environments while enabling product innovation. The position offers the opportunity to influence the development of new banking products and shape legal strategy to ensure compliance and foster growth.

Responsibilities

• Provide legal guidance throughout the product development process to drive strategy and innovation.
• Develop and maintain regulatory frameworks for existing and new lending products.
• Act as the subject matter expert on legal and regulatory requirements affecting lending.
• Structure and draft legal agreements for bank-fintech partnerships.
• Leverage technology and AI to streamline legal workflows and improve operational efficiency.
• Design scalable legal processes to support rapid business growth.

Requirements

• Juris Doctor (J.D.) or equivalent degree.
• 7-15 years of legal experience, including both in-house and law firm backgrounds.
• Proven expertise counseling on banking regulations and embedded finance solutions.
• Deep understanding of regulatory frameworks governing banking partnerships.
• Strong knowledge of TILA, ECOA, UDAAP, FCRA, and state usury laws.
• Experience structuring agreements related to lending and bank partnerships.
• Familiarity with loan sale and servicing agreements.
• Ability to make swift, informed risk decisions in a dynamic legal environment.
