Overview

A leading organization in the Finance & Insurance sector is seeking a Lead Legal Counsel for Lending Partnerships. This role supports revenue growth by focusing on customer relationships, developing partnerships, and executing disciplined commercial strategies. The position involves collaboration with sales, customer, product, and operational teams to identify opportunities, resolve challenges, and enhance business outcomes within a regulated financial services environment.

Location: Remote (U.S. based candidates only; no visa sponsorship available)

Compensation: $179,900 – $249,100 annually

Responsibilities

  • Develop a comprehensive understanding of the Lending Partnerships business to align with client objectives
  • Provide legal and strategic advice to manage risks and support business growth
  • Draft, review, and negotiate a variety of commercial agreements and contracts
  • Collaborate with internal stakeholders to promptly address negotiation issues
  • Design and implement processes and templates to streamline commercial transactions

Requirements

  • Juris Doctor (J.D.) degree with strong academic credentials
  • Membership in a state bar, preferably New York or California
  • Minimum of 7 years of experience in a law firm focusing on transactional practices, or a combination of in-house and law firm experience
  • Proven track record managing complex negotiations and working closely with sales leadership
  • Experience drafting and negotiating complex B2B SaaS agreements within regulated environments
  • Highly proactive, self-motivated, with strong ownership and problem-solving skills

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience, ideally including prior in-house roles at fintech or technology companies
  • Strong communication skills to effectively convey complex legal concepts
  • Interest in emerging products, artificial intelligence, and data-related issues
  • Knowledge of financial services law and regulatory compliance frameworks
  • Familiarity with SaaS business models and contract lifecycle management tools
  • Awareness of data privacy regulations such as CCPA and GDPR
