Overview
This is a fully remote Legal Assistant role supporting U.S. immigration matters within a legal services organization.
You will help manage immigration cases through case preparation, legal documentation, and client communication, supporting attorneys and ensuring clients receive clear, timely updates.
Responsibilities
- Manage daily case and client activities, tracking progress and ensuring documentation accuracy and completeness.
- Respond promptly and professionally to client inquiries via phone and email, triaging needs and maintaining clear communication.
- Assist with scheduling appointments, coordinating client calls, and supporting client interactions.
- Prepare immigration forms using Docketwise and draft legal documents and supporting materials as directed.
- Assemble complete case packets, verify documentation, and prepare files for attorney review.
- Conduct legal research and case-related analysis following attorney guidance.
- Maintain organized case records using MyCase and support legal and administrative operations.
- Collaborate with the legal team using tools such as MyCase Chat, Google Chat, Google Workspace, and Elevate.
- Maintain confidentiality and exercise professionalism, empathy, and judgment when handling sensitive information.
- Complete additional legal and administrative tasks to enhance the legal support function.
Requirements
- Preferred experience in legal support, legal assistant, paralegal assistant, or related roles.
- Strong preference for experience with U.S. immigration law, including familiarity with immigration forms and case preparation.
- Preferred experience with legal case management systems, notably MyCase.
- Familiarity with Docketwise and immigration form preparation preferred.
- Proficient written and verbal English communication skills for professional and empathetic client interactions.
- Required knowledge of Portuguese.
- High attention to detail and accuracy in preparing legal documents and managing case records.
- Excellent organizational and time management skills, with ability to prioritize and meet deadlines.
- Ability to work independently while following instructions, procedures, and workflows.
- Strong legal research, analytical, problem-solving, and critical-thinking skills.
- Quick learner adaptable to new systems, technologies, and changing priorities.
- Professional communication style with confidentiality in handling sensitive information.
- Comfortable working independently and collaboratively within a remote legal team.
- Familiarity with Google Workspace, Google Chat, MyCase Chat, and VoIP platforms is advantageous.
- Availability to work full-time aligned with Pacific Time (PT).
