Overview
A legal team specializing in medical malpractice cases is seeking a Legal Assistant to provide comprehensive administrative and litigation support. This fully remote position involves managing case files, drafting legal documents, and coordinating deadlines to ensure smooth case progression. The role requires strong attention to detail and the ability to adapt to a dynamic, growing legal environment.
Responsibilities
- Provide administrative and litigation support to attorneys handling medical malpractice cases
- Draft, format, and proofread legal documents such as pleadings, discovery requests/responses, correspondence, and subpoenas
- Manage case files, medical records, and discovery databases (both physical and electronic)
- Request, track, and organize medical records, bills, and expert reports
- Assist with preparation for depositions, mediations, arbitrations, and trials
- Coordinate attorney calendars, court deadlines, hearings, and appointments
- Communicate with clients, medical providers, opposing counsel, and court personnel as needed
- Maintain accurate case tracking systems and ensure compliance with deadlines
Requirements
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a legal assistant
- Experience in a defense firm, preferably in medical malpractice
- Knowledge of federal and state filing procedures
- High school diploma
- Proficiency in Microsoft Word and Outlook
- Paralegal certification with billing capability is preferred
Compensation & Benefits
- Salary range: $80,000 - $100,000 per year, depending on experience
