Overview
This role is an in-house counsel position on the PBM client contracting team. Responsibilities include negotiating pharmacy benefit contracts with employer plan sponsor clients, supporting sales teams on new business initiatives, and advising business colleagues on day-to-day legal matters.
Collaboration is required across the Legal department and with internal teams including government affairs, regulatory affairs, client audit, and underwriting. The role also involves communication with PBM clients and their benefit consultants and attorneys.
Responsibilities
- Negotiate pharmacy benefit contracts with employer plan sponsor clients
- Support sales teams on new business initiatives
- Provide legal advice to business colleagues on day-to-day matters
- Work closely with Legal colleagues and internal departments, including:
- Government affairs
- Regulatory affairs
- Client audit
- Underwriting
- Communicate with PBM clients, benefit consultants, and attorneys
Required Qualifications
- Actively practicing attorney with 5+ years demonstrated experience in a law firm and/or in-house setting, including:
- Experience with healthcare or other regulatory matters
- Experience drafting and negotiating complex contracts and/or interacting with government regulators or agencies with respect to healthcare matters
- Admitted to practice law in at least one state and in good standing
- Ability to travel up to 5% (including by plane)
Preferred Qualifications
- Strong knowledge of healthcare laws and regulations
- Experience in a PBM or health plan/insurer environment
- Experience in litigation or dispute resolution
- Experience managing and/or collaborating with outside counsel
Education
- Bachelor’s degree required
- Juris Doctor (JD) is required
Compensation & Benefits
- Typical Pay Range: $144,200.00 - $288,400.00
- Eligibility for a bonus, commission, or short-term incentive program in addition to the base pay range listed above
