Overview

A leading commerce-enabling technology organization is seeking a commercially oriented Legal Counsel with strong experience in commercial contracts and data privacy within the fintech or payment sector. This role is part of the Commercial Legal Team, Europe.

This position is open to candidates based in Spain, Italy, the UK, Malta, or Germany.

The successful candidate will support business growth by providing practical, risk-aware legal advice while ensuring compliance with company policies and applicable regulations.

Responsibilities

  • Draft, review, and negotiate a wide range of complex commercial agreements, including partnership and client contracts.
  • Support the sales team by structuring deals, enabling innovation, and driving commercial initiatives while identifying legal risks and providing practical solutions.
  • Provide data protection and privacy advice, including GDPR and other applicable frameworks.
  • Collaborate with various stakeholders across the organization.
  • Develop templates, training materials, and draft privacy-related policies.

Requirements

  • Law degree.
  • Minimum of 5 years of legal experience in Europe, either at a law firm or as in-house counsel, preferably within fintech or payments.
  • Strong expertise in commercial contracts, negotiations, and data protection/privacy law (e.g., GDPR, UK GDPR, CCPA).
  • Excellent drafting and negotiation skills with a business-focused approach.
  • Fluency in English, both written and spoken.
  • Additional language proficiency in Spanish, Italian, German, or another European language is a significant advantage.
  • Proven ability to work independently and collaboratively in a fast-paced, global environment.
