Overview

A US-headquartered self-clearing broker-dealer and brokerage infrastructure provider is seeking a Legal Counsel to join their European legal team. The organization supports stocks, ETFs, options, crypto, fixed income, and 24/5 trading, serving hundreds of financial institutions across 40 countries with institutional-grade APIs. The role offers the opportunity to work on a diverse range of legal and regulatory matters in a fast-paced, technology-driven environment.

Responsibilities

  • Provide day-to-day legal advice to internal stakeholders on a broad range of legal and regulatory issues.
  • Advise on the design and rollout of new products, services, and business offerings, including cross-border business activities, passporting arrangements, and conduct of business rules.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate customer-facing contractual agreements, disclosures, account documentation, and website materials.
  • Review, draft, and negotiate commercial agreements with institutional clients and counterparties.
  • Assist with regulatory inquiries from UK and EU regulatory authorities, as well as UK, EU, and global exchanges.
  • Liaise and engage with external legal advisers.

Requirements

  • Qualified lawyer (solicitor or barrister) with 3–5+ years of experience at a law firm, financial institution, financial services regulatory agency, exchange, broker-dealer, or technology company.
  • Excellent academic background with strong legal analysis and reasoning skills.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills, able to explain complex matters clearly and concisely.
  • Excellent judgment, analytical rigor, and clear communication.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage projects from concept to execution.
  • Practical, solution-oriented mindset with strong business judgment.
  • Comfortable working with cross-functional, globally distributed teams.
  • Intellectual curiosity and interest in fintech, digital assets, and blockchain technology.
  • Must be eligible to work without sponsorship for this role.

Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience working in financial services regulation.
  • Background in fintech or digital assets.
