Overview
This role involves serving as Legal Counsel for Operations, focusing on employment-related legal matters within the Operations and People teams. The position acts as the primary legal advisor for virtual assistant (VA) performance management, enforcement of Performance Improvement Plans (PIPs), and coaching-related disputes. The role ensures all processes comply with company policies, labor laws, and ethical standards, with an emphasis on risk mitigation in a global remote work environment.
Responsibilities
- Oversee and manage employment-related legal issues within Operations and People teams.
- Serve as the primary legal partner for VA performance management and PIP enforcement.
- Advise on coaching-related disputes and ensure alignment with company policies and labor laws.
- Provide legal guidance to mitigate risks in a remote workforce setting.
Requirements
- Licensed attorney in the Philippines in good standing (mandatory).
- 4 to 6 years of post-bar experience in labor law, employment disputes, or corporate legal advisory.
- Proven experience handling PIPs, disciplinary cases, or performance-related legal documentation.
- Strong knowledge of the Philippine Labor Code, Department of Labor and Employment (DOLE) processes, and their application to remote workforces.
- Excellent writing, negotiation, and advisory communication skills.
- High level of discretion, ethical judgment, and ability to manage sensitive or confidential matters.
Preferred Qualifications
- Prior experience as in-house legal counsel for a BPO, technology, or remote staffing company.
- Familiarity with international client contracts and cross-border employment issues.
- Knowledge of data privacy, compliance, or internal investigation procedures.
- Background in employee relations training or risk mitigation.
Compensation & Benefits
- Monthly salary range: PHP 70,000 to 90,000, based on experience and performance.
