Overview
This role involves providing substantive legal support within the Legal & Compliance Department, focusing primarily on drafting and negotiating vendor contracts. The Counsel will also support critical projects and partnerships that advance organizational initiatives. The position requires independent judgment in contract reviews, strategic business decision support, creative thinking, and effective collaboration with internal and external stakeholders.
Responsibilities
- Draft and negotiate company contracts, including agreements with third-party vendors, marketing agreements, and commercial clients.
- Provide legal support for various company projects and initiatives, with emphasis on key partnerships.
- Train junior attorneys and paralegals.
- Conduct legal research and analysis related to federal and state laws in the healthcare/pharmacy industry, commercial contracts, and business transactions.
- Perform other duties as assigned.
Requirements
- Bachelor’s degree, Juris Doctorate, and active State Bar Certification.
- Minimum of 4 years of relevant legal experience.
- Proven experience in contract drafting and negotiation.
- Proficiency in MS Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.
- Excellent legal research and writing skills.
- Strong organizational, teamwork, and communication skills.
- Ability to provide high-level client service, sound business and legal judgment.
- Capacity to prioritize and meet deadlines in a dynamic environment.
- Self-motivated with strong attention to detail.
- Ability to manage multiple competing projects independently.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with healthcare law, including HIPAA.
- Experience in the pharmacy and/or medical benefits industry.
Compensation & Benefits
- Anticipated salary range: $136,000 to $160,000 annually, with final compensation based on experience, skills, knowledge, and internal equity.
