Overview

A leading provider of AI-driven spend management solutions is seeking a Legal Director/Senior Legal Counsel to join their EMEA commercial legal team. This role focuses on supporting the DACH region with exposure to multiple other jurisdictions across EMEA. The position reports directly to the Head of Legal EMEA and is fully remote, with optional office visits depending on location.

Responsibilities

  • Provide legal support to the Go-To-Market sales organization across EMEA to facilitate deal closures and business continuity.
  • Negotiate and draft commercial agreements including SaaS master subscription agreements, data processing agreements (DPAs), AI terms, professional services agreements, partner agreements, and regulatory addenda such as DORA.
  • Manage service desk tickets assigned to the EMEA Legal team on various legal matters to maintain workflow and unblock business operations.
  • Advise on regulatory and customer compliance requirements across the EU/EEA.
  • Develop deep knowledge of the company’s products, SaaS offerings, security, and data protection policies to effectively support all business lines.
  • Collaborate closely with sales operations, finance, product, privacy, security, and Deal Desk teams to ensure contractual consistency with internal policies and processes.
  • Resolve customer success issues and commercial disputes by working directly with customer representatives and internal teams.
  • Work with legal and cross-functional stakeholders to standardize documentation, develop guidelines, and improve team efficiency quarterly.
  • Create training materials and deliver ad-hoc sales enablement sessions on new regulations and contracting processes.
  • Assist with additional projects as assigned.

Requirements

  • Qualified German lawyer; a Master of Laws degree or membership in a recognized international bar is a plus.
  • Fluent written and verbal German and English skills are required; proficiency in additional languages is highly desirable.
  • Minimum of 10 years of relevant legal experience, including at least 4 years in-house within the tech sector, ideally with exposure to the US software industry.
  • Comfortable working directly with strategic and regulated customers, internal clients, and executives.
  • Ability to handle complex contractual issues autonomously and efficiently.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Highly responsive and service-oriented.
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to prioritize and manage deadlines in a fast-paced, evolving environment.
  • Proven ability to build and maintain strong working relationships across legal and other departments.
  • Creative problem-solving skills and willingness to pursue innovative approaches.
