Legal Operations Lead

Overview

A mission-driven, vertically integrated seafood company specializing in sustainably harvested, wild-caught Alaskan seafood is seeking a Legal Operations Lead. This part-time, fully remote role (10-20 hours per week) supports rapid growth by managing contract workflows, supporting commercial contracting, and building scalable legal processes. The position reports to the SVP of Finance and Business Operations and serves as the primary operational interface between business stakeholders and legal oversight.

Responsibilities

Contract Review & Triage

• Conduct first-pass review and redlining of NDAs, SaaS agreements, DPAs, creative/content licensing agreements, influencer and marketing agreements, and supplier redlines to company general terms and conditions
• Apply company contract templates and fallback positions
• Identify and escalate non-standard risk provisions to SVP and fractional General Counsel
• Coordinate negotiations with counterparties as appropriate

Legal Operations & Workflow Management

• Manage contract intake, tracking, and routing processes
• Implement and maintain a lightweight Contract Lifecycle Management (CLM) system
• Maintain contract repository with proper version control
• Track contract renewal dates and auto-renew provisions
• Monitor legal review metrics and continuously improve service delivery

Process & Playbook Development

• Maintain standard templates and clause libraries
• Develop and refine fallback positions and negotiation guidance
• Improve intake forms and workflow automation
• Support development of scalable legal infrastructure as the company grows

Cross-Functional Collaboration

• Partner closely with Marketing, Procurement, Finance, and Operations teams
• Ensure alignment between contract terms and operational execution
• Support data security and vendor risk review processes

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in Business, Legal Studies, or related field, or paralegal certificate
• Minimum 2 years of experience in contract management, legal operations, or paralegal role
• Experience reviewing and negotiating commercial contracts
• Familiarity with SaaS agreements and indemnity/limitation of liability provisions
• Ability to work independently and prioritize tasks effectively
• Demonstrated fluency integrating AI tools (e.g., Claude, ChatGPT) into workflows
• Strong interpersonal and communication skills
• Proven ability to succeed in a dynamic, fast-paced, and changing environment

Preferred Qualifications

• Experience in high-growth consumer brands, eCommerce, food/CPG, or retail environments
• Experience implementing or managing a CLM system (e.g., Ironclad, SpotDraft, Lexion)
• Familiarity with marketing, influencer, or creative licensing agreements
• Experience supporting a fractional or lean legal team structure

Compensation & Benefits

• Hourly rate: $50 - $75 per hour, commensurate with skills and experience
• Part-time role: 10-20 hours per week
