Overview
This role is a part-time contractor position (approximately 10–20 hours per week, ongoing) based in the United States and working remotely (Remote (U.S.)).
The employer is seeking an experienced Legal Operations Specialist / Senior Paralegal to work closely with General Counsel. This is a hands-on position that involves managing legal matters from intake through completion, coordinating across teams, supporting contract and governance work, and helping improve legal processes.
Compensation: $32.00 – $45.00 per hour (based on experience and qualifications).
Responsibilities
- Support real estate matters, including commercial leases, site development and construction projects, or employment and HR matters, depending on experience.
- Manage legal requests and projects from intake through completion, including tracking next steps, deadlines, approvals, and knowing when to escalate issues to the General Counsel.
- Prepare, review, and coordinate contracts, NDAs, correspondence, and other legal documents.
- Assist with litigation, insurance claims, and disputes by organizing records, coordinating with outside counsel, and tracking developments.
- Support corporate governance, including entity records, board materials, resolutions, and consents.
- Coordinate outside counsel engagements, invoices, budgets, and matter updates.
- Maintain legal templates, files, and trackers, and improve processes to make the legal function more efficient.
Requirements
- At least five years of relevant experience as a senior paralegal, legal operations professional, or in a similar legal support role.
- Strong hands-on experience in at least one of the following:
- Commercial real estate matters (particularly leases, development, or construction); or
- Employment and HR matters.
- The judgment and organization to manage multiple assignments with limited day-to-day supervision, while raising legal or business decisions for review at the right time.
- Strong drafting, communication, and follow-through skills.
- Comfort working with digital document systems and standard office tools. Experience with legal technology is helpful, but expertise in a particular platform is not required.
- Residence in the United States. California residence is not required.
Preferred Qualifications
- In-house legal department experience.
- Paralegal Certificate, Bachelor's Degree, law degree, foreign law degree, or equivalent legal training.
- Experience supporting board governance, entity management, or corporate secretarial functions.
- Experience with legal billing systems, contract management software, or matter-management platforms.
- Experience managing outside counsel relationships and legal budgets.
