Overview
This role supports legislative and labor regulatory engagement as a core function. The work involves analyzing emerging requirements, building compliance frameworks, and shaping the regulatory conversation related to gig economy platforms, marketplace operations, and labor practices.
Responsibilities
- Coordinate cross-functional regulatory responses with a clear, well-analyzed legal perspective for legislative matters affecting operations.
- Complete comprehensive legal review of legislation impacting gig economy participants, marketplaces, retailers, and consumers.
- Provide actionable legal guidance to business partners to support compliant operations.
- Develop and document legal frameworks and compliance best practices for meeting legislative and regulatory mandates.
- Manage relationships with external counsel, trade associations, and industry partners, including participation in cross-industry initiatives.
- Build and share internal expertise in emerging areas of law relevant to the organization’s business.
Requirements
- Juris Doctor (JD) degree.
- 3+ years of experience practicing law.
- Demonstrated ability to synthesize, analyze, and provide precise legal advice in response to legislative updates.
- Experience working with legislative bodies, government agencies, or regulatory matters.
- Proven success supporting compliance initiatives and executing legal frameworks.
- Understanding of legislative processes and the regulatory landscape.
Preferred Qualifications
- Experience with legislative or regulatory strategy.
- Familiarity with issues facing marketplace platform companies, gig economy platform companies, or similarly highly regulated businesses.

- Base pay depends on the candidate’s permanent work location.
- Offers may vary based on factors including candidate experience and skills.
- This role is eligible for a new hire equity grant as well as annual refresh grants.
Base pay ranges (US-based candidates):
- CA, NY, CT, NJ: $231,000—$244,000 USD
- WA: $221,000—$233,500 USD
- OR, DE, ME, MA, MD, NH, RI, VT, DC, PA, VA, CO, TX, IL, HI: $212,000—$224,000 USD
- All other states: $193,000—$203,500 USD
